About this place
A large slice of Wagyu, seared quickly over heat and coated in rich raw egg yolk, defines the Wagyu yaki-suki at Yakiniku Goku. Situated in a backstreet building in Shinjuku-sanchome, the restaurant lets the sweetness of caramelised fat and savoury sauce shine, making the dish an easy companion for white rice or a drink.
The grill menu features thick-cut tongue alongside classic upper-grade tongue, flavourful Wagyu kalbi, and lean Wagyu loin. Offal is well represented with small intestine, large intestine, mountain chain tripe, and beef cheek available individually or in varied platters. Starters such as lightly seared Wagyu yukhoe and seared Wagyu sashimi round out the selection, keeping the focus squarely on the meat's natural flavour.
To finish, cold noodles with chilled dashi, warm fluffy egg soup, and aromatic Japanese garlic rice offer satisfying choices. The bar stocks draft beer and highballs as well as fruit sours, makgeolli, and wines by the glass or bottle.
With counter seats and standard tables, the dining room accommodates both solo guests and smaller groups. Operating from 16:00 in the evening until 23:00, the restaurant permits smoking and takes dinner reservations, serving as a handy option whether stopping in after work or settling in for a full meal.
